CAADRIA & SmartGeometry workshops 2016

During the last days of March and at the beginning of April I collaborated with the organisation of two very interesting workshops, focused on architecture and micro-climate. The first one was CAADRIA workshop 2016 held at the Melbourne University, Australia (29-31 of March). Here more information. The second one was the SmartGeometry workshop 2016 held at the Chalmers University of Technology, in Gothemburg, Sweden (2-9 April). Here more information about that workshop.

The Mini Airflow Tunnel Project

The aim of this project is to develop and share an easy to use and low-cost tool for wind analysis with an empirical approach on physical wind simulation. This tool is a mini airflow tunnel that can provide graphical representations of airflow data for a quick feedback, visualisation and analysis, for architects and designers in the early design stage. This tool is suitable for preliminary analysis of aerodynamic phenomena near buildings, such as wind flow acceleration, that can produce discomfort issues on pedestrians. The mini airflow tunnel project is an association of analogue and digital technology: it uses electronic components for arduino technology and Rhino 3D software with Grasshopper3D and Firefly plugins for graphical visualisation of airflow data in real time.

Exhibition in Mexico about Manuel Casanueva’s work

An interesting article about an exhibition in Mexico presenting the Manuel Casanueva’s work, published in the book: “El Libro de los Torneos”.

Barcelona Pavilion (Mies van der Rohe)

Sometimes I try open source programs which can be used for architects. One of them is SweetHome3D. This is a software for Interior Design that is very popular, easy to use and I wanted to test it to know what it is possible to do with it.

This model made with SweetHome3D is the Barcelona Pavilion, designed by Mies van der Rohe.
In Google you can find information about this iconic building.
I put here some screenshots and renders made with this interesting program in a very short period of time. You can download SweetHome3D from

Sverchok: parametric design with nodes in Blender – Linus Yng

This is a presentation in the Blender Conference 2014 about Sverchok, an addon for the open source modeler Blender3D to work with parametric design with nodes. The lecturer is Linus Yng, master in architecture from KTH Stockholm.
